

George Bird Salyer Jr., passed away on October 17, 2024 at the age of 79. He was born on March 9, 1945. George was a lifelong resident of Corpus Christi.
George was a loving husband, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a firm believer of hard work, fun, and fishing and hunting. He was well versed in the important of family and the teachings of life. His legacy will forever live on in his children.
George was a Miller High School graduate, class of 1974. He went on to marry the love of his life, Yolanda I. Salyer. George proudly served his country with the United States Army and was assigned to Charlie Company 54th Engineer Battalion stationed in Wildflecken Germany. After completing his time with the armed forces he went on to work for RC Cola with their sales and delivery division and remained dedicated for many years.
He will be remembered for his love of the sports, especially the Dallas Cowboys. He enjoyed creating things by hand, specifically wooden toys. George remained cultured, and was fond of traveling out of state every summer with his family. He was largely known for his family cookouts, good quotes, and his laughter.
George is reunited with his parents, George Sr. and Mary Salyer; birth father, Leonardo Argotti; his beloved wife, Yolanda I. Salyer; brothers, John Salyer, Ruben Trevino, Arturo Trevino, Timoteo Trevino and Rene Trevino.
He leaves his loving memories to his children, Janie I. Salyer, George L. (Jeanette) Argotti, Joey (Cindy) Argotti, Sally (Tommy Barley) Salyer; nineteen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brothers, Fred Salyer, Joe Trevino, Leo Argotti; sisters, Andrea Amaro, Mary Trevino, RoseAnn Trevino, Angie Mondragon, Tommi Lyle, Beatrice Paniagua, Irma Argotti, Mabel Migura; he also leaves a host of extended family and friends.
The family would like to extend a very special thank you to the staff at Elara Hospice and Angel Bright Hospice.
Family will receive friends at Memory Gardens Funeral Home on Monday, October 28, 2024 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A Holy Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at 12:30 p.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 2509 Nogales St, Corpus Christi, Texas 78416. He will be laid to rest with Full Military Honors at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery.
