Guillermo "Willie" C. Perez

Guillermo “Willie” C. Perez was called to his heavenly father on May 30, 2016. He was born in Laredo, Texas on April 25,1944. He graduated from Laredo Martin High and pursued his education at Texas A&M Kingsville and Texas A&M Corpus Christi. He proudly served in the Marines in Vietnam from 1968 to 1970 and also served in the Army National Guard for 8 years. Guillermo was an educator for over 30 years as a school teacher, administrator, and was a trustee on the CCISD school board. Perez was an active member in the GI Forum serving as a Commander at one time and a member of the TSTA. He believed in actively contributing to his community as a politician. Perez was a lover of music and poetry. His antics in the classroom teaching with his guitar made him an unforgettable educator. Till his last day, Perez wrote stories, sonnets, and dictation of his life and the world around him.

He is preceded in death by his parents and four brothers.

He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years Ruth Perez, son James Perez (Myrna), grandchildren: Kaitlyn and Janelle Perez, son Joel Perez (Cristina), grandchildren: Jon, Sebastian, Mercedes, Justin, Jazmynn and Tiana. Most notably he leaves behind his youngest sibling and only sister Guadalupe (Lupita) Navarro (Arturo). Perez had numerous sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation is scheduled from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 5, 2016 at Funeraria Del Angel-Memorial Holly with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will be celebrated at Funeraria Del Angel-Memorial Holly at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 6, 2016. Interment will follow at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery at 12:00 p.m.
