Gumecinda Alonzo

Gumecinda loved cooking and family gatherings and her outings to the Dollar Store. She was a very giving person and instilled morals and values in all of her children and grandchildren. She was a beloved mother who loved her children and grandchildren dearly and equally. She was a kind and gentle soul and will be missed by all whose lives she touched.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Secundino Alonzo; parents, Trinidad Flores and Antonia Moreno Flores, Jesus Lopez and Dionicia Lopez; daughter, Maria Luiza Alonzo; brothers, Jesus Flores and Castulo Amador; sisters, Frances Diaz, Ramona Carrion and Martina Gonzalez.

She is survived by her children, Richard (Linda) Alonzo, Gracie Alonzo, Esther (Jose) Robledo, Norma (Oscar) Venegas, Sandra Wagoner, David (Odelia) Alonzo, Ernestina (Henry) Elizondo, Steve Alonzo and Tommy Alonzo. She is also survived by her brother, Pablo Lopez.

Gumencinda will be lovingly missed by her 19 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Having the honor of carrying Gumecinda to her final place of rest will be: Richard Alonzo, Jr., James Venegas, David Alonzo, Jr., Anthony Wagoner, Tommy Alonzo, Steve Alonzo and Andrew Venegas.

Visitation will be held at Memory Gardens Funeral Home, located at 8200 Old Brownsville Road in Corpus Christi, will be on Wednesday, July 22, 2020 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a Holy Rosary recited at 7:00 PM. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Sts. Cyril & Methodius Parish on Thursday, July 23, 2020 at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Due to COVID restrictions, masks are mandatory at Memory Gardens Funeral Home and Sts. Cyril & Methodius Parish.
