In the verdant fields of Chapman Ranch, under the vast Texas sky, was born a soul of noble heart, Harry Lee White Jr., known to kin and friend alike as Butch White. On December 31, 1949, his story began, and through the tapestry of time, he wove a life of virtue and vigor until July 3rd, 2025, when he, in Corpus Christi, did lay down his earthly burden, succumbing to his four year battle with cancer.
Butch White, a man of the soil, did tend to his acres with the care of a shepherd to his flock. As a farmer on Chapman Ranch, he was steadfast, his hands shaping the earth, his sweat nourishing the seeds of tomorrow. His labor was not for glory, nor for gold, but for the love of the land and the legacy he would leave. In the furrows of the plowed fields, one could read the history of a life dedicated to the honest toil and the bounty it brings forth.
The roar of engines and the thrill of speed were the music and dance of Butch's leisure. A charioteer of modern steeds, he reveled in the race, his heart racing with the machines he so adored. On the drag strip, he was a knight in shining armor, his lance the steering wheel, his steed the growling beast beneath him. The golfing greens knew his steady hand, and the dartboards his precise aim. In these pursuits, he found joy and camaraderie, the bonds of competition forging friendships that would endure.
Butch White was the embodiment of wisdom, his words sparingly spent but rich in truth. Selfless was his nature, his own desires ever taking the seat behind the needs of others. Kindness was his currency, and he was wealthy beyond measure. His wife, Charlotte, a partner in life's journey, shared in laughter and the tears, the triumphs and the trials. His daughter Leesa Marie Gibson, blessed with her husband Terry and daughter Emilee, was his source of pride and joy. His son, Harry Lee White III (Trey), with his wife April, carried forth the name and the noble traits. His brother, John Harold White and wife Cindy White, and numerous nephews and nieces. He is proceeded in death by his loving parents, Harry Lee and Leatrice White.
Let us not mourn the setting of this bright star, but rather celebrate the brilliance with which he illuminated our world. Harry Lee White Jr., (Butch) to those who held him dear, has embarked upon a journey beyond the stars, his legacy etched in the hearts of those he leaves behind. In the whisper of the wind through the grain, cotton and corn fields, in the hum of the engines at the starting line, there he will be, ever-present, ever-cherished, until the end of days.
A visitation for Butch will be held Sunday, July 13, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Memory Gardens Funeral Home, 8200 Old Brownsville Road, Corpus Christi, TX 78415.
