

Hector was born to Francisco Ruiz and Teresa Carrion on December 22, 1938, in Corpus Christi, TX. He graduated from Miller High School in 1958. He married his high school sweetheart, Sylvia M. Robles, January 29, 1960, and they lived the majority of the time in Corpus.
He is survived by his children, Hector; Annabel Jaramillo (Paul); Sandra Morales (Victor); and Corisa; and by his grandchildren, Carlos Ruiz; Felicia, Andrew, and Christian Jaramillo; Alicia and Jenelle Morales.
He is also survived by his brothers, Frank and Arturo; and by his sisters, Gloria Benavides, Gracie Flores, and Amanda Benavides.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sylvia; his father, Francisco; his mother, Teresa; his brothers Willie, Gumesindo, and Raul; and his sister, Rosie Pantoja.
Hector served with the National Guard at a young age. Hector also worked many years at Citgo Petroleum as a lab technician until his retirement. He enjoyed having cats as companions. If there was a stray cat wondering by the house, he would give it food and it would eventually become a permanent pet. He also found joy in feeding the birds, spending countless mornings watching them gather - something that brought him great peace.
Hector’s home was always a place of warmth and generosity. He was known for his thoughtful gestures and for sharing simple joys with others, leaving a lasting impression with everyone that knew him.
More than anything, Hector will be remembered for his kind and generous heart and his deep love for people. He cherished his family and lifelong friendships, always making time for those he cared about. Whether it was longtime friends or new acquaintances, Hector had a way of making everyone feel welcome and valued.
Visitation will be held at Memory Gardens Funeral Home, 8200 Old Brownsville Road, Corpus Christi, TX 78415, on May 14, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm, with a Rosary that same evening from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
The Funeral Mass will take place at Christ the King Catholic Church, 3423 Rojo St., Corpus Christi, TX 78415 on May 15, 2026, from 9:30 am to 10:30 am. Committal will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park, 2731 Comanche St., Corpus Christi, TX 78408 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.
