Helen M. Kubik, 84, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, January 14, 2020, after battling a long illness. Helen was born in Meckling, South Dakota on August 27, 1935 to Howard Hanson and Metha (Nelson) Hanson. Upon her graduation from Vermillion High School in 1952, she met and married her husband of 67 years, Raymond Kubik, on December 30, 1952.
Being the wife of a sailor and the frequent traveling never deterred her from her infectious smile, her quick –witted comebacks or her glorious laughter. Rearing 5 children (6 if you count Ray) on a sailor’s pay was not easy. She handled it with grace and pride.
She attended all school functions for all her children. After finally laying roots in Flour Bluff in 1963 for a second time, Ray and Helen decided to reside here until her passing. She worked at FBISD for many years and encountered numerous friendships to last a lifetime. She loved to dance to Elvis and Merle and hosted many gatherings at their residence. She was a diehard Dallas Cowboys Fan and don’t forget her poker slots at Coushatta.
Left to honor Helen and remember her love and laughter are all 4 children: Rhonda (Kurt) Coleman, Randy (Christina) Kubik, Robert (Renee) Kubik and Debbie Kubik; 10 grandchildren: Michael (Molly) Coleman, Brian Coleman, Lisa (Paul) Christian, Kristin (Rob) Harris, Jared Carter, Brandon Kubik, Kassey (Kyle) Flores, Kylie (Chad) Williams, Sydney Ferreris, Raymond (Hannah) Kubik, and Billy Kubik. She is survived by 11 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents; son, Ronnie and her siblings: Leo, Irene, Carol and Merlin.
Always remember her for the smiles she had and the smiles given.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2020 at Memory Gardens Funeral Home, located at 8200 Old Brownsville Road, Corpus Christi, Texas at 10:00 AM. Interment will be private.
