Helen B. Reeves

Helen B Reeves, 90, went home to be with her heavenly Father on July 18, 2014. She was born on December 26, 1923 in Brookhaven, Mississippi to the late Percy M. Byrd and Sarah Ratcliff Byrd. Helen was a past Queen, Elidad Temple No. 134, Daughters of the Nile. She retired as Director of Nursing at the Nueces County Health Department. After her retirement her, and her loving husband Cullen, spent 20 years traveling the country making memories and documenting their experiences. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Helen is preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Cullen S. Reeves; parents; daughter, Helen June Reeves; grandson, Cody James Erwin; one sister and two brothers. She is survived by her sons, Cullen S. Reeves, Jr. (Ann Wise), Steven P. Reeves (Susan) and William P. Reeves (Brenda); 15 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at Cage-Mills Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at Reid Memorial Mausoleum Chapel in Seaside Memorial Park Cemetery. Entombment will follow in the Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to the Al Amin Shriners Children’s Hospital Transportation Fund, 2001 Suntide Road, Corpus Christi, TX 78409. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Helen’s caretaker, Jerre Ferrell and the staff of Cimarron Place for their love and attention provided to their loved one.
