Henry “Bunker” Hill, 92, passed away on January 18, 2012. He was born on October 6, 1919 in Goosecreek, Texas to Henry G. Hill and Fannie DuBose Hill. Henry served his county in WWII, 132nd Ordnance Maintenance Battalion, 10th Armored Division. He was a member of the American Society of Bakery Engineers and Brighton Park Baptist Church. He had worked for Richter Baking Company “Butter Krust” for forty-six years and retired as a production superintendent. He was recognized throughout the industry for innovative formulas and production methods.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Frances Lena Prestwood and Eppsie Azalee Campbell.
Survivors include his wife, Fay Hill of Corpus Christi, Texas; children, Brenda (Mike) Smoak of Stonewall, Louisiana, Cheryll (Johnny) Barbo of Shreveport, Louisiana, Michael (Brenda) Hill of Ruston, Louisiana, Jimmie (Jenny) Hester of Converse, Texas, Janet (Bill) Robertson of Olympia, Washington, Jeannette (Terry) Gibson, Carlsbad, California, Jim Sorrell of Corpus Christi, Texas along with numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Monday, January 23, 2012 at Cage-Mills Funeral Directors, 4901 Everhart Road. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 24, 2012 also at Cage-Mills. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
