Hilario “Benny” Benavides, Sr., 76, passed away on October 10, 2010 with his family by his side. He was born in Laredo, Texas on October 5, 1934 to Matilde Benavides and Janie Liendo. He is preceded in death by his wife Antonia DeLuna Benavides.
Benny is survived by his daughter: Sylvia (Tino) Molina; sons: Hilario (Ann) Benavides, Jr., Tomas (Liza) Benavides, Joe Benavides, Rudy Troy (Imelda) Benavides, Carlos Benavides; sisters: Janie (Jimmy) Resendez, Gloria (Isidro) Villarreal; brother Rodolfo (Lillie) Villanueva; twenty-seven grandchildren; thirteen great-grand children and numerous nieces, nephews and other loving family and friends.
Benny was retired with the Air Force and was a longtime member of the GI Forum.
Visitation will begin on Thursday, October 14, 2010, at Funeraria Del Angel, 549 Cheyenne, from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Church, at 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 15, 2010. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
