Hugh Carlton Jones Sr. was born August 19th, 1919, in Olney Texas. He was the son of Eugene and Lorena Jones and the brother of Geraldine Perkins. Hugh’s 91 years were filled with life and vitality and love of family. He lived through the Great Depression, served his country proudly during World War II and literally saw the world go from horse and buggy to space travel. He lived during exciting and troublesome times but will always be remembered as a strong, positive, and inspirational man to his family. Known to friends as Sam, he worked his way up from the rank of Private to Sargent while serving in the Persian Gulf during World War II. After the war, he went to work in the Texas oilfields. Starting out as a roughneck in South Texas, he ended his 45 year career in Dallas helping to run one of the most successful Fishing Tool Companies (Dotco) in Texas. His children and their children and grandchildren will lovingly remember him as Dad or Papa. He will be missed, but we all take comfort in knowing that he now lives in glory with our Lord Jesus Christ. Hugh was a member of Most Precious Blood and St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Corpus Christi.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 7, 2011 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening.
Funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, July 8, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church with entombment to follow at Memory Gardens Mausoleum.
