Born on September 19, 1930, in San Diego, Texas, Humberto was the son of Longino Treviño and Juana Estringel. He graduated from San Diego High School and went on to build a 30-year career with Reynolds Metal Company, where he worked with dedication until his retirement in 1982.
From 1970 to 1985, Humberto was an active member of the South Texas Trail Riders. He took great pride in riding from Corpus Christi to San Antonio during the annual Livestock and Rodeo Days. Horses were one of his deepest passions—especially his own, "Boy" which he housed at the Double A Stables. There, he formed lifelong friendships and served as a mentor to young riders, generously sharing his knowledge of roping and horsemanship.
Humberto was a devoted father and a steady role model to his children. He will be remembered for his integrity, gentle spirit, and for a smile that could light up a room. He was always ready with a listening ear, a word of encouragement, or a helping hand. His home was a place of welcome for anyone in need, and he took joy in cooking, barbecuing, and filling his home with family and friends. He left an indelible mark on his family, friends, and the young lives he touched.
He is survived by his daughters: Virginia Treviño, Marie (Amado) DeLaPena, and Sandra (Eddie) Salinas; his grandchildren: Jaime (Yvette) DeLaPena and Steven (Angelica) Salinas; and his great-grandchildren: Belle Garza, Jude Garza, Madeline Marie” DeLaPena, and Ezekiel “Zeke” Garza.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Homero Trevino; his son, Humberto “Chico” Trevino; daughter-in-law, Kari Treviño; and his granddaughter, Viveca DeLaPena.
Graveside services will be held at Memory Gardens on Friday, December 5, 2025, at 2:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Charity Foundation of your choice in Humberto’s memory.
The family is truly grateful for the compassionate care he received from his hospice nurse, Deana; the Trio Home Health staff, Sara and Carlos; and his devoted caretaker and son-in-law, Amado DeLaPena.
Humberto will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, and his memory will live on forever in the hearts of his family.
