Ira enlisted in the United States Army on June 29, 1974 and served as a Missile Tank Service Mechanic. He was honorably discharged on June 28, 1977 and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. He worked at Coastal States Refinery and retired after 20 years. He re-entered the work force and was employed as a carpenter for Bay LTD, and after 10 years of employment he made the decision to fully retire.
Ira was a loving and devoted son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather. His hobbies and interest included hunting, carpentry work, deep sea fishing, taking trips with his friends and family, and his most cherished pastime was spending time with his grandkids. Ira was a very loyal and trustworthy person who never hesitated to help out family or friends in need.
Ira is preceded in death by his parents Jesse B and Herlinda Escobedo; brothers David Escobedo, Eli Escobedo, and Jesse Escobedo. He is survived by his wife Tori Escobedo; his sons Andy Escobedo and Robert (Teddie) Escobedo; his grandchildren Isreal Escobedo, Jacob Escobedo, Robert Escobedo Jr. and Marcus Escobedo; sister Esther (Jerry) Wiggins; brother Louie (Angie) Escobedo.
Honorable pallbearers are Robert Escobedo, Andy Escobedo, Daniel Escobedo, David Escobedo, Gilbert Lopez, and Lance Miller. Virtual visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m., via Funeraria del Angel Memorial Holly’s Facebook page. Virtual Chapel Services will begin at 12:00 p.m., October 21, 2021 p.m. Burial to follow at Veterans Memorial Cemetery at 2:00 p.m., the family asks that everyone join us at the cemetery to celebrate Ira’s life.
