Irene Bueno Laurel

Irene Bueno Laurel entered into the loving arms of Our Lord on July 26, 2026 at the age of 91. Irene was born in Sarita, Texas on September 10, 1934 to parents Julia Alvarez and Jose Bueno. Some people spend their lives caring for others, not because it is their profession, but because it is simply who they are. Irene was one of those people. Whether she was tending to a patient, nurturing a flower in her garden, or wrapping her grandchildren in a warm embrace, her life was defined by compassion, gentleness, and unconditional love.

A lifelong resident of Corpus Christi, Texas, Irene graduated from Roy Miller High School before beginning her career as a beautician. She had a gift for helping people feel beautiful, but her heart eventually led her in another direction. She pursued a career in nursing, where she faithfully cared for others for more than 20 years.

When she wasn't caring for others, Irene found peace in the beauty of nature. She loved spending time in her yard, tending to her garden, and watching her flowers bloom.

Above all else, Irene treasured her family. They were the center of her world and the greatest blessing of her life. Nothing brought a brighter smile to her face than being surrounded by her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchild. In those moments, her face would light up with a joy that could be felt by everyone around her. To her grandchildren, she wasn't simply "Grandma"—she was Momo. One of the phrases they will forever carry in their hearts was her gentle reminder, "Momo loves you." Those three simple words became more than a saying; they became a promise of unwavering love, comfort, and security that each of them will cherish for the rest of their lives.

Irene will be reunited in heaven with her parents, Julia and Jose Bueno; sister, Antonia Bueno Chavez; and brothers, Jose Bueno and Oscar Bueno.

Her legacy will continue in the hearts of her children, Victor Homero Perez, Priscilla Ann Perez Finch and Adan Perez Jr. Grandchildren, Steven Ray Perez, Casey Jonathan Finch, and Julia Kristine Finch; two great-grandchildren, Serenity Lanay Perez, and Marisol Haruko Ann Gillispie. One great-great-grandchild, Josiah King Meza and numerous extended family and friends. The seeds of love she planted—in her family, in the lives of her patients, and even in the flowers she so carefully tended—will continue to bloom for generations to come.
