Irene Ramos Medina, also lovingly known as Nena, entered into the loving arms of Our Lord on September 2, 2026 at the age of 84. She was born in Falls City, Texas on September 1, 1942 to parents Elisa Cardenas and Trinidad Ramos. Some people have a way of making life a little more beautiful simply by the way they live it, and Irene was one of those people. She was a woman with a good heart, a loving spirit, and a natural way of making the people around her feel cared for.
Irene had a special gift in the kitchen. She loved to cook and was an especially talented baker. For her, baking was more than simply following a recipe; she took pride in making things from the very beginning. She could make a cake completely from scratch, putting time, patience, and love into every step. The food she prepared was one of the many ways she showed the people she loved just how much they meant to her.
She also had an appreciation for the beauty found in the little things. Irene loved roses, and yellow roses held a particularly special place in her heart. She also loved getting dressed up and was always dressed to the nines, carrying herself with a sense of style and pride. And, of course, Nena enjoyed a good shopping trip, always happy to get out, browse around, and enjoy herself.
Music brought out another side of Irene. She was a wonderful dancer and loved nothing more than hearing a good cumbia or conjunto song and letting the music move her. Dancing was something she genuinely enjoyed, and her love for music added to the joy and liveliness she brought wherever she went. She knew how to have a good time and appreciated the simple happiness that came from music, dancing, and being surrounded by the people she loved. When she was at home, Nena enjoyed relaxing with her favorite novelas, especially La Rosa de Guadalupe. These familiar stories and simple routines were part of the life she built and enjoyed, creating memories that her family will continue to cherish.
Above all, Irene was a woman who loved her family deeply. She was loving, caring, and present, making sure the people she loved knew they mattered. Her good heart could be seen in the way she cared for others, whether through a homemade meal, a freshly baked cake, a shared dance, or simply being there when she was needed.
Nena will be reunited in heaven with her husband of 59 years, Alfredo G. Medina; daughters, Nora Jean Garza and Norma G. Bebout; and grandson, Larry Joe Martinez Jr.
Though her family will miss her dearly, her loving memory will continue with her children, Virginia Jones (Mark), and Jose Alfredo Medina; grandchildren, Angel, Angela (Alex), Irene Salazar (David), Sheena Bebout, Jennifer G. Bebout, Brianna Garza, Natalie Garza. Great-grandchildren, Tristan Medina, Angelica Medina, Adrianna Medina, James Hinojosa, Sylas Martinez, Ambrell Reyes, Rozlen Garza, Destiny Salazar, Divinity Salazar, and David Jr. Salazar; siblings, Sulema, Esther, Molly, Connie, Rachel, Mary, Helen and Trinidad; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members. Irene leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love, warmth, and joy—a life remembered not only for the things she did, but for the love she gave so freely to the people who mattered most.
Visitation will be held at Funeraria Del Angel, on September 14, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, followed by the Holy Rosary at 11:00 am and the Funeral Service at 12:00 pm at the same location.
A Committal Service will take place at Memory Gardens, following the service.
