

Irma Blanco Barragan (77) went peacefully to be with the Lord on Palm Sunday March 29, 2026 surrounded by her family, friends and church. She is remembered as a committed servant of God through Christ Jesus. Irma walked in grace and she made the world more beautiful. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend. She brought out the best in everyone she met.
Irma was born on April 11, 1948 in Corpus Christi, Texas. She is preceded in death by her mother, Maria Cruz Rivera Flores of Waco, Texas; her father, Tomas Blanco of Laredo, Texas; her brother, Tomas Blanco Jr. of Corpus Christi, Texas; her Barragan family head, Gerald Wayne Barragan of Corpus Christi, Texas; and her Garcia family head, Juan “Johnny” Garcia of Robstown, Texas.
Irma is best known for her career as a hair stylist. She left her mark on countless lives; first haircuts, first perms, first dances. She poured her heart into her work and into her clients. She made the world more beautiful.
Irma was a devoted barber educator who loved her students and helped shape the Texas barber industry. She was a co-owner of South Texas Barber College in Corpus Christi, TX. She was appointed a judge for the International Guest Artist competitions, where top barbers competed in technique and style. Irma was recognized as a woman of refinement, unmatched talent, and expert vision.
Irma was a member of Church Unlimited where she served in children’s ministry and lead a life group. She always had a heart for Jesus. Her prayers never ended. She understood that in this life and in the next, God is Great, God is in control, and God has blessings prepared for us when we choose to walk with Him.
Irma is survived by her brother, Roland Blanco (Diana); sons, Juan Andres Garcia Jr. (Vanessa), Christopher Lee Garcia (June), Michael Anthony Garcia (Roxanne), Thunder Thomas Alexander Barragan, and Joshua Bleu Barragan (Chasni); grandchildren, Sarinna Hec (Joshua), Andy Garcia III (Samantha), Roy Garcia, Eric Galvan, Benjamin Garcia, Mia Garcia, Marisa Garcia, Melina Garcia, Michael Garcia II, Camryn Garcia, Maxx Garcia, Markquis Casanova, Harlee & Jax Barragan; great grandchildren: Alice Hec, Augie Garcia, and Kody Galvan.
Though we may shed tears, we rejoice in knowing Irma is alive in Christ. For those wishing to pay respects, Funeraria Del Angel 4901 Everhart Rd. in Corpus Christi, Texas, will host a public viewing on April 10, 2026 at 10 a.m. followed by a service at 1 p.m. Interment to follow at Memory Gardens 8200 Old Brownsville Rd, Corpus Christi, Texas at 2:30 p.m.
