Irma Mendez Longoria

Irma graduated from Roy Miller High School in 1954 and in her senior year she played the clarinet and was proud that her high school band won the US National competition for the best High School Marching Band. She then continued her schooling and graduated from James R. Daugherty School of Nursing at Spohn Hospital in 1958.

Irma married her beloved husband, Louis E. Longoria on January 31, 1959 while he was still in US Army and then she continued her nursing career at Memorial Hospital Corpus Christi, TX, St. Petersburg Hospital in Olympia WA, and Doctors Hospital in Seattle until August of 1961. They moved to Houston in 1961where she then supported her husband while he was attending the University of Houston Pharmacy School where he graduated in 1964.

She is preceded in death by her parents and one brother.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 55 years, Louis E. Longoria; three nephews, Ricky Mendez, Eddie Mendez and Joe Lee Mendez. She also leaves behind to cherish her memories her aunt, Maria Hernandez and a host of friends.

A visitation will be held from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Funeraria del Angel-549 Cheyenne on Thursday, January 30, 2014. A Chapel Service will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, January 31, 2014 at Funeraria del Angel. A burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.
