Milo was born in Premont, TX on August 5, 1931. He graduated from Premont High School in 1948 then joined the Air Force where he served four years including assignment in Germany during the Berlin Airlift. He later attended the University of Texas and Texas A&I University where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and a Master’s Degree in Guidance and Counselling. Milo’s first career with the United States Department of Labor spanned 30 years, after which he had a second career as the Chief Juvenile Probation Officer of Jim Wells County.
As an avid golfer (and excellent putter), Milo was a member of the Pan American Golf Association (PAGA) for 50+ years and was admitted to the PAGA Hall of Fame as an Honorary Lifetime member in 1998. He was diehard Longhorn fan so football season was the highlight of any year and burnt orange always earned a compliment. His greatest passion was establishing and maintaining close relationships, giving him a friend everywhere he went. Milo always had a joke, story, or “Hook ‘em” to share.
He was married to Josie Alaniz from 1975-1993 to whom he remained a loyal and close friend until her passing in 2008. He is survived by three sons: John, Chon, and Ismael; four siblings: Ruben, Maria Celia, Angelita, and Rafael; and ten grandchildren: Jacob, Audrie, Britnie, John, Christopher, Bianca, Brandon, Issac, Alex, and Fynn.
His visitation will be held at Memory Gardens Funeral Home in Corpus Christi, TX from 5PM-9PM with a Rosary to be held at 7PM on Friday, September 2, 2016 and his funeral will be held at Saint Theresa Catholic Church in Premont, TX at 10AM on Saturday, September 3, 2016.
