Israel Zavala Sr.

After a long 5-year battle with cancer, Israel Zavala, Sr., age 78, of Corpus Christi, Texas, gained his wings on November 11, 2023. He was born in Robstown, Texas, on February 10, 1945. Israel graduated from Robstown High School and Del Mar College. He worked as a radiographer at a Houston Hospital and other jobs for many years. Once retired, he moved back to Corpus Christi and worked as a security guard for the Port of Corpus Christ and drove cross country for Mercedes Benz Company.

Israel had a passion for his family and friends. If he wasn’t working, he enjoyed spending time with his family and his friends. He enjoyed his retired life by traveling to Las Vegas, driving throughout Texas, and taking drives down Ocean Drive in Corpus Christi in his F150 or Mercedes Benz and looking sharp while doing so. He used to love barbequing steaks for his family and enjoyed family gatherings. Israel Zavala enjoyed the good things in life and loved his family and friends. He will forever be missed but not forgotten.

Israel is survived by his son, Israel Zavala, Jr. (Wendy Zavala); daughter, Denise Zavala (George Herrera); daughter, Nicolette Zavala Espinales (Frank Espinales); grandchildren, Britney De Leon, Darian Zavala, Taylor Zavala Rangel, Madden Zavala, Angelica Herrera, Adan Herrera, Darleen Espinales Blakley-Henderson Nathan Espinales; great-grandchildren, Mason, Myles, Micah, Maverick, Lux, and Travis; siblings, Fidel Zavala, Jr. (Patsy Zavala) and Mary Villarreal.

Israel is reunited with his father, Fidel Zavala, Sr. and mother, Simona Barboza Zavala; maternal grandparents, Eufemia Huerta Barboza and Claudio Barboza.

In loving memory of Israel Zavala. Your life was a blessing. Your memory a treasure. You are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure. We will never forget you. You will be in our hearts forever until we meet again. ❤️

A Celebration of Life will be held at 6:30 PM on Friday, November 17, 2023, at Gateway Christian Center, 925 NAS Drive, Corpus Christi, Texas 78418 with a dinner will follow.
