

His family moved to Edcouch in 1939 where he attended Edcouch-Elsa High School and was a multi-sport letterman. He was a star running back who led the Yellow Jackets to a district title during his senior year.
After graduation in 1949 he joined the Army and served until 1952. He met the love of his life, Marjorie Bohls, in 1947 and eight years later the two were married in Raymondville.
In August 1964 the couple moved to Corpus Christi where they raised their four children Michael, Edith, David and Anna. Jaime worked for the Civil Service at the Naval Air Stations in Harlingen and Corpus Christi and retired after 35 years of service. After retiring from the Naval Base he worked as a printer at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi for 10 years. Even though he had a quiet, humble nature Jaime was witty, well-liked and enjoyed spending time with his large family and many friends. He also was very active in the church as a longtime usher at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.
Jaime is preceded in death by his loving wife Marjorie Garcia, his father Lorenzo Garcia, mother Edith Bencross, 10 brothers and sisters and two half-brothers. He is survived by his children Michael H. Garcia, of League City, Edith Rose (Ernie) Villarreal, of Corpus Christi, David D. (Jan) Garcia of Loxahatchee, FL, and Anna Marie (Brooks) Rowell, of Pflugerville, 11 grandchildren, his sisters Anita Galvan, of Mercedes, and Lydia Villarreal, of Edcouch, his step-mother Celia Garcia, of Edcouch, and five half brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. August 30 at Cage-Mills Funeral Home, Corpus Christi, with rosary recited at 7 p.m. Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.
