
James “Jim” Richardson Cocke, 87, passed away October 29, 2010. He was born May 17, 1923 in Karnes City, Texas to Lawson and Cora Cocke. Mr. Cocke proudly served his country in the United States Air Corps in the South Pacific during WWII. He graduated from the University of Texas in 1952 after earning his degree in Pharmacy. He worked for various pharmacies over his 50 year career; including Gilbert’s Pharmacy, Pharr Pharmacy, Economy Pharmacy, Economy Pharmacy, Moore’s Pharmacy, and Village Pharmacy. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Billie Cocke; sisters, Nan Eggemeyer and Velaska Smith and his brother, Cohen Cocke.
James leaves behind to cherish his memories his wife of 17 years, Betty Cocke of Sinton, Texas; his son, Ben R. Cocke of Austin, Texas; grandsons, James and Cameron Cocke of Austin, Texas; his stepchildren, David (Cathy) Brandenburg and Carol Brandenburg of Sinton, Texas; step grandchildren, Ryan Brandenburg of Portland, Texas, David Brandenburg, Jr. of George West, Texas, Sarah Ramirez of Sinton, Texas and Elizabeth Torres of Corpus Christi, Texas. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, November 7, 2010 at Sinton Presbyterian Church in Sinton, Texas.
