

Jay was born Dec 28,1957 in Corpus Christi to Jim and Saundra Copeland. Jay graduated from Mary Carroll High School in 1976.
Jay married Patricia on Valentine’s Day 35 years ago. He is survived by his wife, Patricia and their children, Katricia (Rusty) Blair and James Christopher Copeland. His children, Jennifer (Rory) Bittle, Joshua (Beth) Copeland, and Jocelyn Christiana (Josh) De Leon. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, his parents Jim and Saundra Copeland, his sisters Denise (Scott) Schmidt, Debbie Pennington, and Nancy (David) Rockwell and numerous nieces and nephews.
He opened Jamestown Motors in 1994 with lifelong best friend James Franklin. The business was successful for many years until it later closed in 2007.
Jay was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying fishing, hunting, and cycling. He was a strong Christian, spent many hours in the Word, and shared the blessings of our Lord with others often.
His quick wit and humor brought joy to those around him. He was and continues to be loved by his family and friends.
Jay was a passionate dog lover and was a great dog Dad to “Shorty”. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made in Jay’s honor to Pee Wee’s Pet Adoption World and Sanctuary Inc. (peeweespaws.com) or Church Unlimited.
