She held our hands and our hearts for so long, but now she rests in peace with The Lord. Thank you, Mom, for all that you did for us. You will be dearly missed.
After graduating high school in 1949 she attended the Good Samaritan Hospital School of Nursing in Dayton,OH where she studied nursing. This led to her long career at Physicians and Surgeons Hospital, later known as Southside Community Hospital. Her real passion was expressed in her love for horses, music, the fine arts, and her family. Her love of music was manifested in many ways through her children, which she encouraged and provided ample opportunities for exploration.
Upon arrival in Corpus Christi in 1973, she found herself getting involved in the local arts scene and created a business providing music for many of the significant fashion shows that came to town. After retiring from nursing, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and sharing her love of music with those around her.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, John Sumner Spofford.
She is survived by her brother, Donald Eugene Steeley of Dayton, Ohio, her four children: John Spofford (Marilyn), Kim Holloway (David), Grant Spofford (Larae), Trent Spofford and seven grandchildren: Andrea, Sarah and Brian Spofford, Adam and Madison Holloway and John and Rob Spofford.
