Janice Evelyn Jones, age 87, passed away on August 21, 2026. Born November 26, 1938, Janice was a beloved and cherished presence whose faithful spirit and kind-hearted nature touched many throughout her life. A resident of Austin, Texas, she will be remembered with deep respect and enduring affection.
A proud UT Graduate and lifelong UT Longhorn fan, Janice carried her love for the University of Texas with her always—an enthusiasm that reflected both her steady loyalty and the warmth with which she embraced the people and places she held dear.
Janice devoted her working years to education, serving as a high school teacher and tennis coach. In the classroom and on the court, she offered more than instruction—she gave encouragement, patience, and genuine care, leaving a lasting impression on students and colleagues alike through her consistent goodness and dependable heart.
In her personal life, Janice was always caring and loving. She found joy in musicals and simple comforts—brownies and Dr. Pepper among them—and she held a special fondness for cats, her favorite animal. These everyday pleasures, enjoyed with quiet gratitude, were part of the gentle rhythm of a life marked by kindness.
Her faith remained an important foundation. Janice was a member of Oak Park Methodist Church in Corpus Christi, Texas before it closed, and later a member of University Methodist Church in Austin, Texas, where her faithful devotion and steady presence reflected the values by which she lived.
A Funeral Service will be held at Memory Gardens Funeral Home & Cemetery, 8200 Old Brownsville Road, Corpus Christi, Texas 78415, on September 10, 2026, from 9:30 am to 10:30 am. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery, 8200 Old Brownsville Road, Corpus Christi, Texas 78415, on September 10, 2026, from 11:00 am to 11:25 am.
