A graduate of Mary Carroll High School in Corpus Christi, Jerry went on to acquire an Associate’s Degree in Computer Science and a career as a Computer Programmer/Analyst. He worked many years for Heldenfels Brothers, then switching employers and ultimately retiring from Driscoll Children’s Hospital.
Jerry played Little League Baseball as a youngster and softball as a young adult and into his 30’s (mostly church leagues here in Corpus Christi). An avid bowler, he made many friends over the years bowling in various leagues in Corpus Christi and Alice, Texas. He was a diehard fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the Houston Astros and attended most of the Corpus Christi Hooks home games. He enjoyed most sporting events including boxing.
Anyone who knew Jerry knew of his “teasing” sense of humor and joking. He often said he only teased those he liked. He had a heart of gold and was loyal, honest, and loving. He was a devoted father and grandfather, and father-in-law, always there for his sons and their wives helping them through all of life’s ups and downs. His passion was spending time with his grandchildren…teasing them too! They were the light of his life and he loved them dearly.
Jerry is survived by his two sons, Jeffrey A. (LeeAnn) Sanders of Easton, PA and Mark D. (Carla) Sanders of Corpus Christi; 5 grandchildren, Zachary, Kaylen, Audrey, Ethan, and Sawyer; One brother Ronnie A. (Gini) Sanders of Corpus Christi, and of course many friends from here and the country of Peru.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Gladys E and Adron E. Sanders; and his oldest brother Alan E. Sanders.
