He was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on October 30, 1968 and moved to Round Rock, Texas and went to Round Rock High School.
He was married to Angel Marie Tanguma (maiden name – Rivera) on August 2, 2003.
Joel had a passion for music and Deejayed many backyard parties, birthdays and weddings over the years. In his younger days he enjoyed playing basketball, football and volleyball with his friends. He played on several bowling leagues, including a father and son league with his son, Andrew. He loved to go to garage and estate sales, always looking for that one gem, “the hidden treasure” he would say. He enjoyed playing poker with his friends to past the time or unwind, but most of all, he loved his family.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Janie Tanguma; his uncle, Nisano Tanguma and cousin, Nick Tanguma.
He was survived by his wife, Angel Tanguma; his children, Vidal Joel Tanguma, Andrew Michael Tanguma and Isabella Jolene Tanguma; his granddaughter, Amelia Martina Tanguma.
He is also survived by his siblings, Cynthia Ann Luna (Max), Debra Ann Tanguma (Addie), Patricia Ann Reyna, Regina Perez Kurzen (John), Rosa Elena Perez Rhodes (Danny) and James Noel Tanguma; his father, Noel Tanguma (Rhonda) and numerous nieces and nephews.
He held a special place in his heart for his sisters in law, Sarah Rivera (Joe) and Cassidi Rivera Mendiola (Richard) and their families.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 20, 2021 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM at Memory Gardens Funeral Home in Corpus Christi, Texas. Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at 3:00 PM at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
