He was the beloved son of the late Jose Maria Reyes and Guadalupe Camarena, and his life was a testament to hard work, devotion to family, and quiet strength.
Born in Mexico, Jorge built his life with his own two hands. A self-employed construction worker, he poured pride and craftsmanship into every project. His greatest joys were creating custom homes — especially the family house where his children grew up. One of his proudest achievements was remodeling the home of Dr. Pro (Pro Optical) on Ocean Drive. He was a master mason & tile craftsman, and his work can still be seen in the fountains & floors of Our Lady of Corpus Christi campus. He loved working with his hands, and even in simple moments — like playing the lottery with a hopeful smile — his spirit for life and possibility shone through. He had an incredible knack for not just building, but growing things, and his backyard was always a wonder of tropical plants and incredible avocado trees.
He shared 52 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Alicia Barrera Reyes, building not only a home but a legacy of family, faith, and love. Together they raised children who carry forward his strength and values. Among them, three of his sons honor him through their service in the military, reflecting his example of dedication and sacrifice.
He is survived by his children & stepchildren: Jorge Barrera Reyes and wife Yvette Ma. Edith Reyes Zamudio and husband Vicente Jorge Reyes Zamudio and wife Ma. Guadalupe Dagoberto Reyes, Zamudio and wife Margarita Ramon Reyes, Zamudio and wife Norma Angel Reyes, Zamudio and wife Clemencia Samuel Torres II, Leticia Torres Paree and Patricia Torres.
He is reunited in Heaven with not only his wife, but his departed son Jose Maria Reyes, stepson Michael Torres, and grandson Avery Jude Reyes,
He is also remembered by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will forever cherish his warmth, humor, and love.
