Jose O. (Billy) Gomez “El Indio”, 77 passed away on Friday, October 12, 2012 surrounded by his loving family. He worked as an iron worker for a local union until his retirement. He enjoyed the sport of baseball so much he dedicated his time coaching and being involved at Westside Little League for over 47 years. Not only did he love coaching, he loved playing as a young child into his senior years. He was an avid West Oso Bear fan as well as a Dallas Cowboy fan.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Maria Madrigal Gomez; his son, Juan Jose Gomez; parents, Daniel and Leonor Gomez; brother, Daniel Gomez Jr.; his sisters, Odilia Bautista, Delia Campa, and Alicia Garza.
Jose leaves his memories to be cherished by his daughter, Viola (Jaime) Gonzalez; grandchildren, Elisa (Joe) Esparza, Juan Enrique (April) Gomez, Valeria (Rodolfo) Gonzalez, Veronica (Roy) Guerrero and Viviana Gonzalez (late LaMarcus Spencer) and ten great-grandchildren. Also surviving him are his daughter-in-law, Sulema Padilla; brother, Hector Gomez (late Amelia), sister, Ofelia (Placido) Garza and Rosa (Adan) Meza; numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 14, 2012 from 3:00 to 9:00 pm at Funeraria del Angel with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm that evening. Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, October 15, 2012 at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Pilar Catholic Church with interment to follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park.
