Jose Domingo Vega, 77, affectionately known as Joe, went to be with our Lord on Thursday, January 18, 2024. He was born to Pedro Vega Sr. and Hortencia Reyes Vega on August 25, 1946 in Mercedes, Texas. Joe was a gentle and kind man who enjoyed the simple things in life; he loved western movies, sitting on his porch talking about football and gardening.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Pedro Vega, Sr. and Hortencia Reyes Vega, sister: Trinidad Mendoza, brothers: Feliciano Vega and Rafael Vega, niece: Veronica Rodriguez, sisters-in-laws, Mary and Velinda Vega. He is survived by his sisters: Evangelina Moncevais (Eddie), Librada Gutierrez (Ben); brothers: Rafael N. Vega (Noemie), Raul Vega (Rocio), Pedro Vega, Jr. (Hilda), Cornelio Vega, and Luis Alberto Vega (Rachel), brother-in-law, Victor Mendoza; Neighbor: Mariano Garcia III (Linda), numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be on Monday, January 29, 2024, at Funeraria Del Angel, 549 Cheyenne St., from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening.
Visitation will continue on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at Funeraria Del Angel, 549 Cheyenne St. at 12:00 pm with the procession departing at 1:30 pm to Memory Gardens Cemetery, 8200 Old Brownsville Rd., burial at 2:00 pm.
Pallbearers will be: Cornelio Vega, Raul Vega, Victor Mendoza, Eddie Moncevais, Jr., Luis Vega, Feliciano Vega, Jr., Honorary Pallbearers: Pedro Vega, Victor Mendoza Jr.and Saul Vega.
