On December 30, 1978, Mr. Afram was united in marriage to Georganna “Gina” Afram in Corpus Christi, Texas. Together they shared 47 years of devoted companionship and built a family and business legacy marked by dedication, integrity, and hard work.
Mr. Afram enjoyed a distinguished career in the jewelry industry. In 1978, he founded Afram’s Jewelers, where he committed himself to excellence in craftsmanship and service. He continued to lead the business until his retirement in 2025, proudly entrusting it to his sons, Malak and Mark, in 2024. In addition to his jewelry enterprise, Mr. Afram owned and operated several nightclubs in Corpus Christi and Harlingen, as well as a shopping center, various real estate holdings, Modern Pawn & Guns, and Capital Coin.
Joseph was a founding member of St. James Syrian Orthodox Church in Corpus Christi, a community deeply important to him. He was known for his sharp business sense, love for the stock market, and enthusiasm for trips to Las Vegas—especially for blackjack. He treasured family vacations, hunting with his sons, and spending time with his beloved grandchildren. Holidays and family gatherings were the heart of his life; he took tremendous joy in hosting New Year’s parties, Easter and Christmas celebrations, BBQs, and fish dinners.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Malak and Nijme Afram; his brother, Jack; and his sisters, Virgin, Rose, and Zakia.
Joseph is survived by his devoted wife of 47 years, Georganna Lynn Afram; his children, Malak Joseph Afram (Hilary) and Mark Joseph Afram (Melissa Jean); and his five cherished grandchildren: Joseph, Malak, Isaac, Norah, and Madelyn. He is also survived by his sisters, Najet Dawod and Nazlea Hanna. The family extends a special thank-you to Dr. Mario Martinez for his care and support.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorial contributions be made to St. James Syrian Orthodox Church on Waldron Road in Flour Bluff, a place close to Joseph’s heart
