A proud United States Army veteran, devoted husband, father, grandfather, and the unwavering rock of our family, Juan lived a life of honor, integrity, strength, and unconditional love. He served his country with courage and carried those same values throughout his life, always putting family first and leading by example.
Juan found his greatest joy in the simple blessings of life—spending time outdoors, hunting, fishing, and sharing those moments with family and friends. Whether sitting in a deer blind at sunrise, casting a line on a peaceful morning, or gathered around telling stories with those he loved, he created memories that will remain with us forever.
For 17½ years, Juan courageously battled cancer with extraordinary faith, determination, and resilience. He faced every challenge with remarkable strength and unwavering hope, inspiring everyone around him. Throughout his journey, he never allowed his illness to define him. Instead, he continued to love deeply, serve selflessly, and cherish every moment with his family and friends. His perseverance and courage are a testament to the incredible man he was.
His wisdom, quiet strength, generous heart, and steadfast love were a source of comfort and guidance to everyone who knew him. Though our hearts are broken by his passing, we are grateful for the legacy he leaves behind—a legacy of faith, service, hard work, unwavering perseverance, and unconditional love for his family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Maria De La Garza; children Orlando (Brenda) De La Garza; Laura (Joe) Chavera; grandchildren Juan Orlando De La Garza and Julian Omar De La Garza. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Victoria Villarreal, Augustine (Carmen) De La Garza, Jose (Martha) De La Garza, Juanita Freudiger, Dora Garcia, Ninfa De La Vina along with numerous nieces and nephews.
We thank you for your prayers, love, and support during this difficult time. While Dad may no longer walk beside us, his spirit will live on in every sunrise, every quiet fishing trip, every hunting season, and in the hearts of the family and friends who loved him dearly.
His family invites you to attend a celebration of his life with a visitation from 5pm to 9pm on Monday July 13th, 2026 at Memory Gardens Funeral Home with a rosary to be recited at 7 pm.
Funeral service will be held at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church at 11am on Tuesday July 14th, 2026. Interment with full military honors to follow at Coastal Bend Veterans Cemetery.
