

Juanita Garza Medina, age 88, of Corpus Christi, Texas, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2026. She was born on July 12, 1937, in Beeville, Texas, to the late Anastacio Garza Sr. and Tiofila B. Canchola.
Juanita married the love of her life, Refujio M. Medina, on March 25, 1982, in Corpus Christi, Texas. Together they shared many loving years filled with family, laughter, music, and dancing.
She was a proud member of the Silver Sneakers at the YMCA and enjoyed staying active and social. Juanita loved football, dancing, sewing, and cooking for those she loved, she was known for her signature red hair and feisty personality. She especially enjoyed entering dancing competitions and spending time cheering on her favorite football teams. She will be most remembered for her delicious cooking, beautiful smile, and joyful spirit on the dance floor.
Juanita was preceded in death by her parents, Anastacio Garza Sr. and Tiofila Canchola; her beloved husband, Refujio M. Medina; her son, Rene Abrego Sr.; her sister, Guadalupe Vega; her brother, Refujio Barrera; and her son-in-law, Gilbert Dominguez.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her children: Ronnie E. Abrego of Corpus Christi, Texas; Tommy R. Abrego Sr. and wife Aida of Austin, Texas; Gina M. Dominguez of Round Rock, Texas; Cora J. Patino and husband Danny of Corpus Christi, Texas; and Verna Lisa Garcia and husband John David of Corpus Christi, Texas. She is also survived by three sisters, two brothers, 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild on the way, along with several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Harbor Hospice IPU in Portland, Texas, and Harbor Hospice Home Health in Corpus Christi, Texas, for their utmost support and compassionate care during such challenging times. A very special thank you is also extended to Mrs. Valerie, her first nurse with Tribute Hospice, for the kindness and care she showed Juanita and her family.
Juanita’s love, warmth, and joyful spirit will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
