It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Kimela Jeanine Haley Thomas, a luminous soul whose remarkable journey came to a close on July 25th, 2023, at the tender hour of 4:55 pm, following a valiant and tenacious battle with ovarian cancer.
Kim was born on September 25th, 1957, in Corpus Christi, Texas, and has left an indelible mark upon all who had the privilege of knowing her. In her 65 years, Kim embraced a life of incomparable achievements and deep passions, evoking admiration, and reverence in equal measure. Her pursuit of knowledge was ceaseless, as evidenced by her academic triumphs at Del Mar College, where she earned an associate degree in Applied Science in Production and Logistics Management, an Associate of Arts in Business Administration, and a Certificate in Applied Science in Logistics and Supply Chain Management. Her intellect was matched only by her profound compassion and dedication to those she held dear.
In the 1980’s, Kim emerged as one of Texas's pioneering female Master Electricians as her heart and soul found harmony in her professional vocation. After obtaining her license, she ultimately became an unstoppable force in the male-dominated electrical field and went on to become the heir to her father's legacy, when she gracefully assumed the reins of Haley Electric and later forged her own path as the proprietor of TKS Electric, Inc. Throughout her illustrious career, she lent her expertise to various institutions, including the City of Corpus Christi as an esteemed Electrical Inspector and as an inspirational instructor for The Associated Builders and Contractors of Texas, where she guided aspiring apprentice electricians with unparalleled wisdom.
The pinnacle of her career saw her serve as an MEP Coordinator and Electrical Plans Examiner for The City of Dallas, a role she described as “the peak of professional fulfillment”. Kim's journey in the electrical realm illuminated pathways for future generations, inspiring countless souls to transcend barriers and embrace their potential fully.
Yet, beyond her professional triumphs, Kim found her most profound joy and fulfillment in her daughter, Stacie. A beacon of love and strength, their bond transcended time and distance, bound by shared passions for the written word, worldly exploration, and the unwavering commitment to aiding others in need with selfless acts of kindness.
Kim's brilliance in the electrical field was equally matched by the warmth of her heart, and her departure leaves a void in the lives of her cherished survivors: her beloved husband, Tim, her daughter, Stacie, her brother, Kenneth Paul Haley, and her cousins, Andrea Taurins, Kenneth Harrison, and Elizabeth Dohanich. Additionally, she leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, lifelong friends, and her cherished canine companion, Rowdy.
In the tapestry of time, she reunites with those who preceded her in the journey beyond; including her grandparents, Earline and Paul Alford; her parents, Kenneth and Beverly Jeanine Haley; her aunt and uncle, Paula and Kenneth Harrison; her brother, Charles Haley, and her cherished canine companion, Toby.
In honor of her memory, a visitation and funeral service will be held at Memory Gardens Funeral Home. The visitation will take place on Friday, August 4, 2023, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, offering an opportunity to pay respects to the radiant soul that once graced our lives.
