He was born in Corpus Christi Texas on September 15, 1956 to the late Francis and Morris Mitchell.
He attended public school in Corpus and upon completion of school, he obtained employment at the school for the deaf where he became skilled in sign language in Austin, Texas, where he worked a number of years. While in Austin, he learned another skill of karate where he was a black belt. He was taught under the direction of Hall of Famer Lewis Arnold.
Larry is preceded in death by his parents, Morris and Frances Mitchell; brother, Raymond Mitchell; and sister, Maria.
Left to cherish the memory of Larry are his siblings, sister, Patricia (Isaac) Bell, Ivate Mitchell; brothers, Tyrone (Judy) Mitchell, Don (Angela) Mitchell and charles Mitchell. As well as extended family, Raymond (Rosa) Arnold, Cheryl (James) Blanton, Sharon (Jacob) Alvarez, Shirley (Carl) Moore and Sheri (Desira) Glenn.
A Celebration of Life for Larry has been scheduled on April 19, 2024 at Funeraria Del Angel located on 4901 Everhart Rd., Corpus Christi, Texas 78411. Family will be welcoming guest as 2:000pm with the prayer service being held at 2:30pm to follow with memory sharing and concluding by 5:00pm.
