Tino was born in Corpus Christi on February 29, 1964, to Laurentino R. Ramirez and Josefa P. Ramirez. He spent his life in the community he loved and worked for many years as a self employed painter. For a time, he also worked alongside his daughter at Whataburger, creating memories that would be cherished for years to come.
Tino was a man with a big personality, a caring heart, and a unique sense of humor. In his healthier years, he enjoyed playing pool and billiards and never missed an opportunity to make fun of the Dallas Cowboys, a team he proudly disliked. He loved watching documentaries, reading about conspiracy theories, and discussing history, especially topics involving General Patton, Pancho Villa, World War II, and other historical events.
Family and friends will fondly remember Tino watching Johnny Bravo, copying the character's moves and catchphrases, firing up the barbecue for family gatherings, and dressing sharply in his favorite fancy shirts and stylish hats. He was known for his frequent phone calls to his daughters, simply to check on them and remind them how much they were loved.
Among the many phrases that will forever echo in the hearts of those who knew him are, "I love you, Mija," and "Just calling to check on my baby."
Tino deeply loved his family. He especially treasured his children and grandchildren, and he had a special bond with his beloved grandson, affectionately known as "Stinky." He was a source of comfort and support to his daughter during one of the most difficult times in her life following the loss of her mother. He often spoke of and dreamed about his own mother, whom he missed dearly.
Though he faced many challenges in life, including his battle with kidney disease and dialysis, Tino continued to hold onto dreams of traveling and experiencing more of the world.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Josefa P. Ramirez and Laurentino R. Ramirez, and by his twin brothers, Moises Ramirez and Rogelio Ramirez.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Thalia Ramirez, Michelle Ramirez, Laurentino M. Ramirez Jr., T.J. Ramirez, Carlos, Lisa, and Christina; his many grandchildren; his siblings, Dalia, Rosario, Juan C. Ramirez, Robert Ramirez, Jesus Ramirez, and Betty; along with numerous extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
Tino's love, humor, and unwavering devotion to his family will never be forgotten. His calls, his laughter, his stories, and his simple reminders of love will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Forever loved. Forever remembered.
