In 2014 when we celebrated our 50th Anniversary, the Weikums gave us one of Leonard’s hand made crosses. It hangs on our desk as a constant reminder of this faithful Christian man.

In 1980 when we arrived in CC, Leonard & Noni welcomed our family into their family. We have many memories of fun times at the Lost Colony

I have so many memories of Papa Weikum from over the years. Most recently, days before his passing, our Pastor came to visit, pray and anoint Papa Weikum with oil. We ended by reciting the Lords Prayer. I watched as Papa Weikum locked eyes with our Pastor and recited each word with a conviction of faith that is impossible for me to describe with words.
I will miss your kind and gentle spirit Papa Weikum, but find comfort in the knowledge that you are Home and that one day we will see you again. How blessed I was to have you in my life.

I’ll never forget my first Christmas in Texas at Trinity Lutheran Church, when Len handed me a wrapped gift of a beautiful handmade wooden cross. I still have it, and other wooden gifts, that he gave me over the years. He was always so kind, and generous with his talent.
