Lilia N Maldonado, age 85

Lilia N Maldonado of Corpus Christi, TX joined her heavenly family this past Tuesday, October 16th in the peace of her home. She was born in 1933 in Corpus Christi to Pablo and Julia Navejar. She married Vitalio G Maldonado in 1951 who preceded her in death in 1989.

They had five children. Surviving her are her two daughters Gloria J Maldonado-Hill (Edwin), JoAnna M Reyes (Calvin), 10 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Her three sons Vitalio N Maldonado (Carmen), Richard N Maldonado and Paul N Maldonado (Cindy) preceded her in death.

Lilia resided in Texas most of her life with the past 45 years in Corpus Christi. She loved her city and enjoyed numerous outings by the bay. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who loved to cook, sew and exercise daily. She was very active at her senior center, Lindale Senior Center, where she was also known as ‘Power Girl’ for her ‘Can Do’ attitude and competitive streak. She enjoyed daily walks, chair volleyball, yoga and lunch with her friends. She was a very strong independent woman who loved life and enjoyed living life. She supported all sorts of charity walks, fundraisers and volunteered at her senior center.

The visitation and rosary is from 6:00pm until 8:00pm on Sunday, October 21, 2018 at Funeraria del Angel-Memorial Holly. The funeral service, with Pastor Steve Coronado Sr of Solid Rock Church, will follow at 1:00pm on Monday, October 22, 2018, also at the Funeraria del Angel-Memorial Holly. The burial will be at Rose Hill Memorial Park Cemetery.

We are thankful to God that he allowed our mother’s time on earth to be active during her earlier stages of cancer and only endured a short period of time knowing she had cancer. Many thanks to all the family, friends, medical staff and caregivers who supported and tended to her during this difficult time. She may be gone to be with her heavenly family but she will always be with us in our hearts and souls.

God saw that she was getting tired And a cure was not meant to be

So He put his arms around her And whispered “come with me”

With tearful eyes we watched her suffer And watched her fade away

Although we loved her dearly We could not make her stay

A golden heart stopped beating And a warm loving heart to rest

God broke our hearts to prove to us That He only takes the best
