For the past 90 years, Lillie Hroch Kurtz, has patiently and kindly walked through life picking up every stray dog and cat, feeding every person lured in by the scent of her kitchen, and loving seven children selflessly and unconditionally.
Born on June 22, 1928, she gracefully endured the depression on a farm with her thirteen siblings. Although she only completed 8 years of education, she was an avid reader and instilled that into her family. Lillie began working at HEB with Mr. Butt, but decided to go to beauty school and became a beautician to many ladies who came to her weekly to get their hair done. Lillie worked tirelessly at various salons for over 60 years until she was 85, and she finally retired.
She married James Kurtz on June 2, 1952 and being a devout Catholic, raised 7 children to be independent, hard working individuals who have all been successful because of her guidance and undying love. Throughout her life, Lillie gauged her achievements on that of her children and she tirelessly worked to meet the needs of everyone she touched.
In her retirement, her daughter, Susan, and her son, Danny, were her main care givers who took her to church on Saturdays and frequented Whataburger to get her usual, #7 no pickles. A big thank you to Mallory and Sara at Brookdale for the undying love they showed her in the last year of her life. Lillie flew into the arms of Jesus on Friday, October 12, 2018.
Lillie is preceded in death by her husband, James, son, Steve, and grandson, Matthew Neal. She is survived by sons, Gary (Tina) and Danny (Bunny), daughters, Linda (Mike), Cheryl (Randy), Susan, and Judy (Matt), Lillie also left a legacy through her grandchildren, Tara (Peter), Melanie (Jared), Kristen (Michael), Clark, Matthew, Hannah, Colin (Bailey), Kimberly, Lily, Meredith, and Noah.
