This beautiful soul would not only become the center of his Mother's world but become the love that carried his father's name. As he grew up in Corpus Christi, TX, he was known as "Sweet Lou."
The one with the smile that everyone gravitated to, the one that carried a Christ like kindness that never left anyone a stranger after encountering him, the one that had a witty response that resulted in a much needed laugh. For so many his presence alone was the light capable of making a great day even greater.
Of all the titles he held- Moody Baseball Player, academic honors scholar, fisherman, avid golfer, hunter, mechanical engineering student, - there was one he was the most proud of, the one he shouted from the roof tops..."Mama's Boy!"
The only desires in this child's heart were to love & take care of his Mom & make his Dad proud- to which he succeeded in unimaginable amounts.
After a devastating diagnosis of Leukemia, he fought long and hard in the trenches alongside the amazing medical team at MD Anderson, his Auntie Nena, Delfina & Luis Gonzalez (grandparents), Sonia & Michael Medina (Aunt & Uncle), #teamlou- all while never losing the tight grip of his heartbroken Mother & Step Father's (Gilbert DeLeon) hands.
June 10, 2018 3:35pm -our warrior flew to heaven as Cindie & Big Lou gently whispered that he had won the battle and it was time to go home.
He is preceded in death by his paternal great grandparents Eduardo & Cristelia Barrera, maternal great grandparents Juanita Foster, Warren Foster and Albesio Montavlo & paternal grandfather, Silvestre A. Rios.
He is survived by his loving parents Cindie & Gilbert DeLeon & Luis A. “Lou” & Lilly Gonzalez, sister Serena Viannay Gonzalez & brother Adrian Christopher Gonzales & brother & sister Gilbert & Alyssa DeLeon, Godson Marcus Gabriel Ortiz, Grandparents Diane & Edward Barrera, Grandparents Luis & Delfina Gonzalez, Grandparents Linda & Sam Frias & grandmother San Juanita Rios, Auntie Nena Barrera, Aunt & Uncle Sonia & Michael Medina & numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and countless of friends.
