Luis C. Talamante

Luis C. Talamante passed away on Tuesday, December 8, 2015 in Corpus Christi, TX. He was born February 20, 1924 in Duval Co., Los Reyes, TX, to the late Saturnino and Dora Talamante. He is preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Elvira Marroquin, Rosa Salinas and wife of 61 years, Maria (Billy) Talamante. Luis is survived by his children, Anita (Manuel) Padilla, Dora Talamante, Luis (Hilda) Talamante and Thelma Talamante; grandchildren, Antonio (Kristine) Talamante, Stephanie (Eric) Carlson, Cynthia (Sen) Rodriguez, Manuel (Gina) Padilla, Luis Talamante III, Theresa Talamante, Arturo (Lilly) Gutierrez, Anthony (Sabrina) Gutierrez, Charles (Monica) Talamante and Adrianna (Cecil) Perez; great-grandchildren, Taylor Rae Calderon, Thomas Gann, Kia Carlson, Diego Talamante, Lourdes Talamante, Joaquin Talamante, Sydney Rodriguez, Ava Talamante, Adelaida Gutierrez, Alex Cole Gutierrez, Alessandra Gutierrez, Gabriella Gutierrez and Kolbeigh Carlson. Luis is also survived by his sister, Elida (Felix) T. Salazar and numerous other loving family members and friends. Luis was an avid rancher all his life. He grew up in Duval County attending San Diego H.S., graduating in 1943. He was proud to be a Vaquero. He went on to serve his country from 1943-1946 in the U.S. Army. He then joined the Corpus Christi Fire Department on April 11, 1955 retiring on September 11, 1984, serving a total of 29 years. He had been retired from CCFD for 31 years. His favorite past-time was working on his ranch and playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be remembered as a loving son, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother. He will be dearly missed. Visitation will be held at Cage-Mills Funeral Directors on Friday, December 11, 2015 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:30 pm that same evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church on Saturday, December 12, 2015 at 1:00 pm with interment to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
