Manuel Antonio Duran

Tio was born on January 25, 1958, and graduated from Foy H. Moody High School. He enjoyed a long and successful career in the restaurant industry, starting in the kitchen at Mr. Gatti’s Pizza in Corpus Christi. He worked for the Great American Cookie Company at Sunrise Mall in Corpus Christi and eventually became a manager for stores in Lafayette, La. and Houston. Tio also managed a Krispy Kreme store in Corpus Christi. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends at backyard barbecues, loved action and horror movies, and was a loyal and committed Dallas Cowboys fan.

He is preceded in death by his father Manuel Duran; sister, Blanca D. Becerra; brother-in-law, Juan J. “Jesse” Becerra; and sister, Maria Aurora Duran.

Tio is survived by his mother, Ofelia C. Duran; his two nephews, Javier Becerra (Angela) and Omar Adrian Becerra (Beth); and his great nephews, Joaquin J. Becerra and Javier J. Becerra. He is also survived by his brother, Arnoldo M. Duran (Therese) of Palos Hills, Illinois. Tio also leaves behind many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Public visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Monday, March 17, 2014 at Funeraria Del Angel Memorial Holly Chapel with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. that evening. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at Holy Family Catholic Church with interment to follow at New Hebbronville Cemetery in Hebbronville.
