

He was born in Robstown, Texas on January 25, 1937.
He was married to Mary Barrera on October 30, 1960 (63 years).
Marcelino had a career as an appliance technician/business owner, and started his career at Hill Hardware for ten years, then moved on to Lack’s Furniture for 19 years, until he opened Blackie’s Appliance Shop in Robstown in the early 80’s.
He was a Volunteer Fireman at Robstown Fire Department for approximately 24 years.
He joined the Robstown Knights of Columbus Council 3110 on March 1, 1977, a Life Member and Advanced to the honors of the Fourth Degree, which is the highest and most prestigious within the Knights of Columbus, and a Member of St. John Paul, II Assembly 2904 in Robstown.
He was in the Kiwanis Club and the Evening Lions Club respectively, and held various positions throughout his years of service.
He was also a missionary helping and aiding orphanages, schools, elderly and needy families in Mexico for more than 20 years.
Marcelino had a passion for major sports, especially the Dallas Cowboys, hunting, traveling, socializing with friends, and spending time with his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents Jose M. and Aurora Barrera , and two brothers, Jose Barrera and Robert Barrera.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mary, daughter Barbara (Gabriel) Durand-Hollis, daughter Sandy Bakalyar, son Marcelino (Marc) V, grandchildren, Gabriel Durand-Hollis, III, Natalie (Austin) Cuellar, Scott Michael Bakalyar, Stephen Matthew Bakalyar, Marcelino (Marky) VI, and Mya Noel Barrera.
Funeral arrangements will be held at Funeraria Del Angel, 3442 Holly Road, Corpus Christi, Texas 78415. Visitation on Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at 5:00 to 8:30 PM. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Thursday, February 8, 2024 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 204 Dunne Avenue, Robstown, Texas 78380. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, FM 1889, Robstown, Texas
