

Marcelino Garza Gutierrez, 96 passed away on Wednesday, December 6, 2017. Marcelino was born in Pearsall, Texas on June 18, 1921. He was a WWII Army/Air Force Veteran. He was a master of all trades, with his passion being electronics. He owned Reliable Radio and TV Service on Port Avenue for many years and for 35 years worked as an Avionics Technician at ARADMAC/CCAD. Marcelino was hard working; working two jobs most of his life to support his family. This work ethic was instilled in his children and their children. After retirement he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, working on his yard in which he took a lot of pride. It was always said that the Gutierrez’s had the most beautiful yard. He enjoyed meeting his friends and former co-workers for coffee at Whataburger. Marcelino was an active member of Holy Family Catholic Church for many years where he served as an usher. He was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Maria; his parents, Nicolas and Leonor Gutierrez; sister, Maria G. Estrada; and brothers, Vicente, Jose, Jesus and Adan. Marcelino is survived by seven sons, Jose Angel (Gloria), Armando (Josie), Hector (Liz), Eddie (Donna), Arthur, Robert (Linda), Rudy (Diane); one daughter, Norma Stanton (Tom); brother, Nicolas; sisters-in-law, Teresa Gutierrez and Isaura Gutierrez; 29 grandchildren; 29 great- grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, friends and his beloved Chow Chows, Spike and Skipper. Visitation will be held at Cage Mills Funeral Directors on Sunday, December 10, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with music to begin at 6:30 p.m. and a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Family Catholic Church, 2509 Nogales St. on Monday, December 11, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. with Interment to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery, 8200 Old Brownsville Rd.
