Marcos spent 30+ years as an educator teaching Texas History, U.S. History and coaching sports at Freer, Houston, and West Oso High School, his Alma mater high school; also at Martin, Browne, and Grant Middle Schools at CCISD. Marcos was a kind soul, who found pleasure in the simple things in life and maintained a strong faith in God until the very end. He loved spending time with his close-knit family and was a man who could truly talk to anyone!
Marcos attended Rose Shaw Elementary in CCISD, Hellman Elementary, Molina Jr. High, and graduated from West Oso High School in 1967. He attended Del Mar College and received his Bachelor’s Degree from Pam American University. Marcos played baseball at Universal Little League and West Oso High School. He was a Little League assistant coach, manager, and umpire. In the late 1960’s, Universal Little League closed and had no playing field. Nineteen (19) year old Marcos and others successfully approached then State Representative Frances “Sissy” Farenthold to acquire state land to establish a new Universal Little League Baseball Park and got some sponsors to pay for a new charter and the rest is history… 50+ years later, thanks to the selfless acts and efforts of Marcos Noyola, Jr and others, Universal Little League remains in operation at the same location to this day.
Marcos took hundreds of middle school students on social studies/history field trips and to San Antonio Spurs games. He also, chaperoned hundreds of Moody Civic Minded Students on educational Austin field trips as well. Marcos quietly and without fanfare would perform many random and intentional acts of kindness via caring notes, gifts, artwork, pictures, etc. to many relatives, friends and/or persons he barely knew. Marcos was a quiet, caring and giving civic minded leader.
Marcos spent his free time relaxing into retirement; watching sports, collecting, going to church, learning about history, fishing, golfing, listening to Tejano music & Mo-Town classics, laughing at Cantinflas, and eating taquitos every chance he could get! His kindness and authenticity will be missed by many.
