Margaret Hutchins, 81, of Corpus Christi, Texas, was born on December 12, 1944, in Corpus Christi, Texas, and passed away on June 9, 2026. Margaret will be remembered with deep respect and enduring affection by all who knew her.
Margaret’s life reflected steady purpose and a generous spirit. She graduated from Carroll High School in 1963 and went on to receive her Master Degree from A&M University in Counseling—an achievement that spoke to her thoughtful commitment to helping others and to the work of listening with care.
She served her country by joining the US Air Force, where she worked as a Surgical Tech. Margaret later continued a life of service through her work as Secretary for career Development at NASA in Maryland, and as a counselor at the Family Counseling Center. In each role, she brought a steady presence and a sincere desire to support those around her.
On January 30, 1965, Margaret married Gary B. Hutchins in San Antonio, Texas. Their marriage was a meaningful chapter in her life, and one held with gratitude and remembrance.
Margaret found joy in painting, writing, and gardening—especially in talking to her plants, a small detail that perfectly captured her warmth and the way she made everyday life feel personal and alive. She also sang in the church choir, offering her voice in a way that reflected both devotion and quiet generosity.
Those who knew Margaret often return to the same cherished memories: her sense of humor, her love of joking around, and her quick Witt. Conversation with Margaret rarely stayed brief; it could become a long talk about any and everything, filled with attention, laughter, and the feeling that you had been truly seen. And when it came to taking something on—whether large or small—her answer was famously simple and encouraging: “Sure We Can.” She was known for her love of life, always willing and ready, and she brought delight to many with her unforgettable, “crazy” Halloween costumes—right down to details like bubble gum under the shoe.
Margaret was preceded in death by her father, Jesus Talamantes; her mother, Herminia Talamantes; her spouse, Gary B. Hutchins; her brother, Joe Talamantes.
Margaret is survived by her daughter, Joelle Evans (Randy); her sisters, Adelaida Talamantes and Martina Cepeda; and her grandchildren, Juaquin, McKenzie, Christian, and Rhianna.
