Margaret R. Summers

She graduated from Edinburg Senior High School and moved to Corpus Christi to attend Corpus Christi College of Beauty Culture. Upon completion she was employed by the salon at Lichtenstein’s. After the passing of her first husband, Margaret attended the Del Mar School of Nursing and received her Licensed Vocational Nurse Certificate. She then worked at Spohn Shoreline Hospital, Thomas Spann Hospital and Doctors Hospital for a number of years.

Margaret married John Orval Walker in 1945. She was widowed after 19 years of marriage. Together they had 5 children, including one baby boy who passed shortly after birth.

The four surviving children are John Wayne Walker, Jeanette Ann Roper, David Orval Walker and Gary Lee Walker. She is also survived by a brother, Earnest J. Slovacek, of Telferner, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. We all love her and will dearly miss her.

She married Roderick Justice Summers in 1972. They were married until his death in 1999.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at Memory Gardens Funeral Home. A Chapel Service will be held on Thursday, February 9, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Memory Gardens Funeral Home. Interment to follow at Memory gardens Cemetery.
