Margarite (Maggie) Oropez Juarez Salinas, 62, of Corpus Christi, TX, passed away on 16 February 2020. She was born in Corpus Christi, TX on 28 October 1957. Maggie graduated from WB Ray High School in 1976. She continued her education and received her Masters in Science from the College of Education at Texas A&M – Corpus Christi.
She was married to Albert Salinas on June 18, 2015. Maggie worked in Grants and Contracts Research for Texas A&M – Corpus Christi for 24 years. She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church and had a passion for family, friends, traveling and her church.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Candelaria Oropez Juarez; her sister, Janie Juarez Murphy Floyd and brother-in-law, Larry James Murphy, Sr.
She is survived by her husband, Albert Salinas and her children Gabriel Luis Vela and Steven Jacob Vela of Corpus Christi, Texas; step-children: Stephen Salinas of San Antonio, Texas; Christopher James Salinas (Christela) of San Antonio, Texas and John Gregory Salinas of San Antonio, Texas.
Maggie is also survived by her father, Alberto Y. Juarez of Corpus Christi, Texas; brother, Albert Juarez (Lerma) of Kingsville, Texas; sister, Angie Juarez of Corpus Christi, Texas; brother, Ruben Juarez (Pat) of Cypress, Texas; sister, Linda Trevino (Fred) and sister, Cindy Hernandez (Gilbert) of Corpus Christi, Texas. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
Maggie will be sadly missed by everyone whose lives she touched . . .
Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 23, 2020 at Memory Gardens Funeral Home, located at 8200 Old Brownsville Road in Corpus Christi, Texas from 5:00 – 9:00 PM with Holy Rosary recited at 7:00 PM. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, February 24, 2020 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, located at 5830 Williams Drive in Corpus Christi, Texas at 12:00 PM. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Pallbearers for Maggie will be Christopher Salinas, John Salinas, Fred Trevino, Alex Trevino, Josh Hernandez and Albert Murphy.
