Obituary of Maria S Abrego
Maria (Coco) Del Socorro Abrego was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, tia, and friend. She passed suddenly on July 27, 2022 at age 63. She was born to Margarito and Oralia Cuevas on August 25, 1958 in Corpus Christi, Tx . Maria graduated from Roy Miller High School. Soon after, she met her husband Martin Abrego Sr. They spent 39 loving years together and had 3 children. Maria loved her Saturday mornings going garage sale shopping and have her breakfast at Santa Rosa. Martin can tell you she could always get a bargain. She also started taking her grandkids to garage sales and thrift stores passing down what she loved and showing the kids how to make a bargain and turn someone else’s trash in treasure. She had a hack for arts and crafts. She also had a baker’s hand she was known for her great tasting banana nut bread. Her family could not wait for fall to come around when she started her baking. She would also share her baking good with all her neighbors on the block. Not only would she share her banana nut bread but also she would always give a hand to anyone who needed her help. She was a fun loving partygoer. Her dancing song was the Cupid shuffle, whenever that song came on you knew Maria would be out there. The best times she had was spending time with her 14 grandkids- anywhere from decorating Christmas ornaments to showing them baby pictures of her 100s of photo albums. Her favorite song was “we are family.” Her most joyous moments was spending time with her 14 grandkids. Most of all her time with her loving husband Martin. Maria is preceded in death by her parents, Margarito Cuevas Sr., and Oralia P. Cuevas and brothers, Roberto Cuevas, Ricardo Cuevas, and Margarito Cuevas Jr. She is survived by her husband Martin Abrego Sr., three children Martin (Heidi) Abrego Jr., Marcos (Christina) Abrego, and Isabel (Eloy) Torres.
