Mary was a proud graduate of Miller High School and carried herself with a sense of grace and dignity throughout her life. She will be fondly remembered for her love of dressing up, her joy in shopping, and the many meals and baked goods she so lovingly prepared for her family and friends. Her kitchen was often filled with the aromas of her cooking, but even more so with laughter, conversation, and the warmth she so freely gave.
Faith was the foundation of Mary’s life. She was a devoted member and teacher at her beloved church, where she touched countless lives through her ministry. She found great purpose in sharing the word of God, especially in her work with the prison ministry, where her compassion and dedication left a lasting impact.
Above all, Mary’s greatest joy was her family. She poured her heart into her children, grandchildren, and generations beyond, and she leaves behind a legacy of unconditional love, strong faith, and devotion to family.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Francisco Alcala Sr., her sister, Angie Landa and her son, Gilbert Alcala.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Frank (Mandy) Alcala Jr. of San Benito, TX; Alma (Danny) Botello of Arlington, TX; and Lisa Alcala and David (Diana) Alcala, both of Corpus Christi, TX. She is also survived by her sisters, Elida Dominguez and Mary Garcia. Her legacy continues through her 14 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-great-grandchildren, each of whom carries with them a piece of her spirit and love.
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Christus Spohn South ICU, the rehabilitation therapists, and all the family and friends who never left their side during this journey.
Mary’s life was a testament to faith, love, and perseverance. Though she will be dearly missed, her memory and the values she instilled will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
