Maria was married for 54 years to a loving husband who embodied the sacred vow of “in sickness and in health”. Together, they built a life rooted in faith, family, sacrifice, and enduring love. She was a caring nurse for 34 years at Spohn Shoreline Hospital.
Like many of her generation in their youth, she fell under the spell of Beatlemania. In the later years of her life she still knew all the lyrics to every song by The Beatles.
She was in the first graduating class of Foy H. Moody High School in 1968, where she first met the young man who would change her life forever.
She is survived by her devoted husband Ruben, her loving son and daughter Rene and Jennifer, her amazing grandkids whom she loved so very much, Lizzy, Aly and Davy, and her fours sisters and brother, Grace, Sylvia, Rosie, Betty and Agustine.
Though our hearts are heavy with loss, we rejoice in the blessing of having known and loved her. Her legacy of faith, love, service, and kindness will continue through the family and friends she leaves behind.
May she rest in eternal peace.
Memory Gardens Funeral Home and Cemetery at 8200 Old Brownsville Road will be handling the services. Arrangements are currently underway and a date and time will be announced soon.
