Maria E. Espinosa Hernandez

She was born Maria Del Socorro Espinosa to Vicente and Antonia Espinosa in Bishop, Texas on May 18, 1931. At the age of thirteen, she came to live with the family of Rafael & Julia Macias and helped them operate Rosewood Bakery. A few years later, she met Dad and after a 3 month courtship they were married on July 30, 1950.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Teresita Hernandez; her brother: Vicente Espinosa, Jr.; sisters: Virginia Gonzalez and Herlinda Arredondo.

She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years Arturo Hernandez, Sr.; children: Juanita Morales, Theresa (Ruben) Basaldu, Leticia (Roel) Ruiz, Manuel (Yolanda) Hernandez, and Arturo Hernandez, Jr., sisters: Josefina Aguilar, Maria Carmen Vittonett and Rafaela Quinonez; brother: Antonio Espinosa; 12 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, April 9, 2010 at Funeraria Del Angel, 549 Cheyenne, Elvira Gomez will be conducting the Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that evening.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Saturday, April 10, 2010 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, with interment to follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.

The family would like to thank Doctors Pedro Albreu, Jack Sahadi (Sandy), Jose Duran, Lorenzo Martin and numerous other medical professionals that assisted her through the years. A special Thanks to Vista Care Hospice, especially Karen Martin, RN. and Bill Reeves, LVN., for their gift of caring and to our neighbors Steven & Josie Benavidez and Pablo & Cleo Lugo for being there for us. Also Thank You Tia Veco for coming down from Indiana to help care for mom and Thank You Elvira Gomez for coming to our home to make sure Mom received the Holy Eucharist every Sunday.

Honorary pallbearers will be Patrick Basaldu, Ruben Basaldu, Roel Ruiz, Sr., Roel Ruiz, Jr., Jason Morales, and Manuel Hernandez, Jr.
